Indian Engineering Services holds an entrance exam in order to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Specialized Civil Engineers. The exam has two different parts namely Stage I and Stage II. Stage I has a total of 1000 marks and has objective and conventional type questions. Stage I has question relating to matters dealing in General Studies and matters dealing with Civil Engineering. Stage I is further sub divided into two parts namely Part I and Part II. Part 1 is an objective test while part 2 is a conventional one. Stage II is a personality test having a total mark of 200. Of course a civil engineer can built airport and tunnel. All tunnels of delhi metro have built by Civil Engineers of DMRC (Delhi Metro Railway Corporation). Not only railways tunnels but water tunnels, Dam tunnels, roadways tunnels all are being constructed by civil engineers. Same to airports, IGI (indira gandhi airport) airport, delhi, is constructed by L&T Construction company.chatrapati shivaji international airport, Navi Mumbai is being constructed by three construction companies 1. L&T, 2. Leighton (Australian company)and 3. Italic-Thai development public company.
Its not about tunnels and airports, civil engineers are constructing many structural building, Sky scrapers(High buildings) Towers, Bridges, Roads, Dams,
Flyovers and many more...
