GATE is conducted for getting admission in IITs, NITs, Jadavpur University and various other colleges for pursuing M.Tech courses. Every year a huge number of students from different parts of India appear for this exam. There are different papers for students from different streams of engineering. The Civil Engineering paper consists of 65 questions and is of 3 hours duration. The questions are all multiple choice types and have four alternatives. The candidates have to select only the correct ones. There is also negative marking for the incorrect answers. For some questions one third is deducted while for some questions two third marks is deducted. Apart from civil engineering questions are also asked from Mathematics and General Aptitude.
