The paper consists of four options. The Option A is compulsory for all students, while they can choose one of Option B, Option C or Option D. the topic of Option A is Analyzing Ecosystems. Some of the questions in this section are writing the scientific names of the animals of a local ecosystem from the pictures of the animals provided in the question paper, calculating the Simpson’s diversity index of the ecosystem, suggest any two visible features which can be used as key to identify species, what is the name of an abiotic factor which can affect the diversity of two similar ecosystems at different sites and in what way. Option B has questions on Impact of Resource Exploitation and some of the questions from this section are: outline the difference between ecological footprint and carrying capacity for a human population, explain why a country with the largest per capita footprint is a developed country. The topic for Option C is Conservation and Biodiversity and some of the topics are definition of biodiversity and habitat diversity, and suggest what would happen if a group of elephants is segregated from other elephants for a few years. Option D has questions on Pollution Management, such as definition of biochemical oxygen demand and three ways to clean and restore a eutrophic lake.
