Botany-I paper is a conventional essay type paper where you have to write long answers of the given questions. The first question being compulsory you have to write that one and another 4 questions by choosing one question each from the 4 sections. Each of these sections has 2 questions with sub-questions which hold marks from 10-20. In total you get to answer 5 questions with a weightage of 40 marks given to all i.e. 200 marks in total. Some of the important questions include questions on brown algae, asexual reproduction in Deuteromycotina, Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV), Puccinia graminis triticii, Psilopsida’s diagnostic character, origin of angiosperms, angiosperms and gymnosperms differences, Lichens, bryophytes, pteridophytes, bacteria’s role in agriculture, Pinus needle and its internal and external morphology, Ginger and Avala’s medicinal usage, polyembryony and plant tissue culture, about Agri-biotechnology, Plasmids and its reproduction, Shenopsida etc. You have to go through your syllabus very carefully and answer sensibly by drawing neat and clean diagrams wherever necessary.
