It includes concept of human rights and its evolution, social, economic and political rights, fundamental rights, and right to information, events that led to the development of human rights in west, development and child rights, public interest litigation, women rights and safeguarding, role of NGO’s in protecting rights, tribal rights, dalit rights, civil liberties, bonded labor, right to rehabilitation, trade union movement, violation of rights, case studies (Minerva mills, Menaka Gandhi, Keshavananda Bharathi case)

Paper Pattern: Rights of Citizens in the Indian Context paper consists of 2 sections containing 5 questions each. 5 questions should be answered taking at least 2 from each section. Each of them carry 20 marks, all are subjective type and may be subdivided.

Total Marks: 100

Time Allotted to complete the paper: 3 Hours

Key Points: Sufficient examples should be gathered and should be precise when it comes to answering the case studies. There is a repetitive pattern in the question paper. It is better to refer previous papers.
