Re: Which optional to choose for IAS exam?
hi!
In my opinion you should choose that subject as optional in CSE mains exam in which you are an expert. I mean to say that you should that optional subject which you have already studied & in which you have a good command. So, you can choose any engineering subject since you are doing BTech in which you have confidence & interest. If you will choose a subject from other disciplines like arts then you have to start your preparation from the beginning. It may prove to be time consuming & little bit difficult. That is why i suggested you to choose a subject from your domain. Anyways, the final decision is yours. Well, yes of course you can choose maths as it is one of the most scoring subjects in CSE. |

Re: Which optional to choose for IAS exam?
I would suggest you
Mathematics physics zoology. Before choosing the optional, I would suggest you to choose the optional of your interest and where you have some knowledge. Dont choose your optional for the sake of others and by thinking that everyone is choosing and so this have some good value. Why iam focusing this here is, in your chosen optional you need to have the clarity of concepts. So many resources are available for preparation. So dont bother about that. Concentrate fully on the choosen optional and all the best. |

Re: Which optional to choose for IAS exam?
Hey first complete your graduation course, you still have three year's of your graduation left.
After completing your graduation course just pick up a hand full of subjects which you are perfect in.Since your from mechanical stream, maths &mechanical will be a routine subject for you. So,you can select that. Its all based upon your interest and perfectness over the subject that you have to choose a subject as optional. all the best |

pattern of exam will include:- Paper-I optional subject Paper-II English Paper-III Essay Papers IV & VGeneral Studies these optional subjects are:- IAS in Agriculture, IAS in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, IAS in Anthropology, IAS in Botany, IAS in Chemistry, IAS in Civil Engineering, IAS in Economics, IAS in General Studies, IAS in Geography, IAS in Geology, IAS in Indian History, IAS in Management, IAS in Mathematics, IAS in Medical Science, IAS in Philosophy, IAS in Physics, IAS in Political Science, IAS in Psychology, IAS in Sociology, IAS in Zoology, IAS in Public Administration yeah you guessed it right you can take maths as a optional subject. why i am saying to choose mathematics because it is very interesting and very good subject, if see it from deep. i don't find any other good optional from above list as your option should be. see man, its totally depends on your interests. if you are very much interests in mathematics then go for it. but you are not then i must suggest you go for IAS in Economics or IAS in General Studies, see its upto you. no matter whats the subject or optional is. go with interests. wish you good luck. “There are no secrets to success. I am from a science background with a degree in Engineering. But i do not want to choose any engineering subject as an option for the Main exam. I would take Maths as one of the subjects. Out of Philosophy and Psychology, which one should i prefer, as the second subject.

Re: Which optional to choose for IAS exam?
If you want to become an IAS officer then there are two way through which you can achieve your dream.
One way : Recruitment into IAS is done by appointment by selection through powers conferred by section 3 of the All India Services. Candidates from State Civil Service through promotion and Non State Civil Service through appointment are recruited into IAS. You will start your careers in the state administration at the sub-divisional level as a sub divisional magistrate. The post of District Officer is also known as District Magistrate, District Collector or Deputy Commissioner. Since it is the most identifiable position in the IAS services, it is also the post which most people identify with IAS. Second way : You can also become an IAS officer after taking the civil service exam. The recruitment procedure includes: Step 1->Preliminary exam:There will be two papers common for all students . Step 2-> Main exam: Only those who have cleared the preliminary exam will be allowed to appear for the main exam.It includes : 1.Written exam :There will be total 9 papers .Candidates have to choose 2 optional subjects in which there will be total 4 papers will be taken . 2.Interview :Those candidates who successfully cleared the exam will get call for the Interview |
