Civil Servies Examinations in India(UPSC) is divided into two parts i.e. priliminary & main
Preliminary examinations (Prelims)
The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective i.e multiple choice questions. There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs).

a) General studies
b) Optional subject

you can choose from Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Agriculture, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, StaIistics etc.Important: It is not compulsory to choose the same subjects of your graduation.

The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov. Duration of each paper is 3 hrs.

Language: one of the Indian languages, English, Essay GK and Current Affairs: 2 papers on general studies

Optionals: papers from two subjects that fall in optional-1 and two papers from optional-2 (a choice of subjects is listed by the UPSC in the prospectus) Candidates who are successful in the main examinations are eligible for an interview which plays a crucial part in the selection.

HELLO,
the top class officers of IAS,IPS,IFS & alloyed services are selected from the exam conducted by UPSC.
there are 3 stages of the exam-
1.prelims(may-exam month)
2.mains(october)
3.interview(after selection in mains)
there will be aptitude test in place of optional subject in prelims next year according to UPSC.
take a look at mains-
1.a language,from 8th supplementary in indian constitution.-300(max. marks)
2.english-300
3.essay-200
4.general studies-600
5.optional subject-1200
the selected candidates in mains will have call for interview.there will be 300 marks for interview.merit list will be prepared after summation of mains & interview obtained marks.

there is no such examination called IPS examination

IPS is a cadre which a applicant will get in the examination called CIVILS

which is conducted by UPSC delhi

and the subject for civils is vast you can go through the syllabus in the following link

* Cartesian and polar coordinates in three dimensions, second degree equations in three variables, reduction to canonical forms, straight lines, shortest distance between two skew lines; Plane, sphere, cone, cylinder, paraboloid, ellipsoid, hyperboloid of one and two sheets and their properties.

(4) Ordinary Differential Equations :

* Formulation of differential equations; Equations of first order and first degree, integrating factor; Orthogonal trajectory; Equations of first order but not of first degree, Clairaut’s equation, singular solution.
* Second and higher order linear equations with constant coefficients, complementary function, particular integral and general solution.
* Second order linear equations with variable coefficients, Euler-Cauchy equation; Determination of complete solution when one solution is known using method of variation of parameters.
* Laplace and Inverse Laplace transforms and their properties; Laplace transforms of elementary functions. Application to initial value problems for 2nd order linear equations with constant coefficients.

(5) Dynamics & Statics :

* Rectilinear motion, simple harmonic motion, motion in a plane, projectiles; constrained motion; Work and energy, conservation of energy; Kepler’s laws, orbits under central forces.
* Equilibrium of a system of particles; Work and potential energy, friction; common catenary; Principle of virtual work; Stability of equilibrium, equilibrium of forces in three dimensions.

(6) Vector Analysis :

* Scalar and vector fields, differentiation of vector field of a scalar variable; Gradient, divergence and curl in cartesian and cylindrical coordinates; Higher order derivatives; Vector identities and vector equations.
* Application to geometry: Curves in space, Curvature and torsion; Serret – Frenet’s formulae.
* Gauss and Stokes’ theorems, Green’s identities.

there is no such examination called IPS examination

IPS is a cadre which a applicant will get in the examination called CIVILS

which is conducted by UPSC delhi

and the subject for civils is vast you can go through the syllabus in the following link

To give the IAS exam you need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

Your age should be between 21-30 years.
