It is certainly possible to get lateral entry for B.Sc course for diploma holders. There are number of colleges who would give admission in B.Sc lateral entry to the diploma holders. The requirements vary from college to college.


There are few colleges that would offer admission to diploma holder in any stream. Some colleges give admission on the basis of merit while others would give admission on your performance in entrance exam. Similarly not every college would give you lateral entry for honors course. Very few colleges would do that.


Since you have completed diploma in Electronics and Communications I would suggest that instead of B.Sc you should get lateral entry for B.Tech course. There is far better scope in B.Tech if compared to B.Sc.


You would get lateral entry for B.Tech in Electronics and Communications which is one of the most sort after course. There are plenty of job opportunities for the ECE graduates. You can work for Public Sector Undertaking, Telecom, Electronics and IT sector. The choice is yours.


You will get lateral entry into second year of B.Tech. There are plenty of seats for lateral entry since most colleges reserve somes seats for diploma holders. If you have scored 60 percent marks in diploma then it would be easy for you to get direct admission. While in other case you may have to appear for entrance exams.


Now the entrance exam I am taking about is not AIEEE or IIT-JEE. These are irrelevant for diploma holders. Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET) is the exam for lateral entry students. You may have to appear for this exam. However some colleges prefer to conduct their own entrance exam. Please remember that IITs do not offer admission through lateral entry therefore do not waste time applying for them.

It is not possible to get admission in B.Sc second year after completing your Diploma course.Instead after completing your Diploma or B.Sc in Non Medical field you can directly get admission in 2nd year of Engineering.

Eligibility conditions for getting admission in B.Sc are:

You must have completed your 12th in Non Medical stream.
You must have scored at least 50% marks in 12th.

Eligibility conditions for Lateral entry admissions:

You must have completed your Diploma course with minimum 60% marks in Engineering from a recognized State Board of Technical Education.
You must not have any backlog left in Diploma course.
Your age must not be more than 28 years.
