The foundation stone for establishment of Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine was laid by the Governor Lord Carmichel in the year 1914 on the 24th of February. The school began its functions in the year 1921 and the first batch of students obtained their Diploma in Tropical Medicine in the year 1922.
