About Nuclear Medicine Department of AIIMS:
Nuclear Medicine Department of AIIMS offers a wide range of hospital services like patient education, lab services, inpatient services, outpatient services and also other facilities like diagnostic facility and PET facility. In addition, the department is also engaged in several on-going research activities like standardization of nuclear medicine techniques in children with diagnosed hydronephrosis, role of nuclear medicine in diagnosis of early dementia, comparative evaluation of ictal brain, etc…
Educational courses offered by Nuclear Medicine Department of AIIMS:
In addition to research activities and medical facilities, the department of Nuclear Medicine offers the following courses as well:
• MD in Nuclear Medicine
• M. Sc in Nuclear Medicine Technology
• Ph. D in Nuclear Medicine
About the courses:
The duration of MD in Nuclear Medicine course is three years, while that of M. Sc course is two years. On the other hand, in the case of Ph. D in Nuclear Medicine course, candidates must submit their thesis after three years of registration with approval from the doctoral committee. Generally, for completion of Ph. D the course, it takes 3-5 years.
Admission procedure for Ph. D in Nuclear Medicine course:
Admission of doctors for Ph. D in Nuclear Medicine course is done based on the merit secured by candidates in the entrance examination specially meant for Ph. D admissions conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Science. This Ph. D entrance examination conducted by AIIMS is conducted twice in a year and in the process of admission, merit secured by candidates in the qualifying examination of PG course in Nuclear Medicine will also be considered. The duration of the course begins as soon as a candidate registers himself/herself with the institution for Ph. D in Nuclear Medicine after clearing the entrance examination and departmental evaluation.
