The Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation was constituted in the year 1952 on the 13th of May and initially the ministry was called as Ministry of Works, housing and supply. It is the apex authority of Government of India responsible for formulation of policies, support and sponsor programmes and coordination of activities of different nodal authorities, state governments and central ministries.
