The University of Gujarat offers the course of MJS or Master In Journalism Science. There are eight in the course and the names of few of them are:

•    MJS-Communication & Development
•    MJS-Communication Theory
•    MJS-Information Technology
•    MJS-Advertising-IV
•    MJS-Research Methodology-V
•    MJS-Media Policy & Media Mgt.-XI

Each of the eight papers has a maximum of one hundred marks and is divided into two important parts, namely the theory and the practical. Each of the theory paper has a maximum of seventy marks and has three hours duration. There are about four pairs of questions, out of which candidates have to attempt at least one question from each of the pair.

There is one Compulsory question at the end of the paper. This main question has about four different sub-questions, out of candidates have to attempt all. Each of the questions in the theory paper carries a maximum of fourteen marks. The remaining thirty marks are offered in the practical based part of each of the papers. There is also a Dissertation involved along with a project work. Candidates have to submit the project work to the Head of the Department.
