The banking sector as a whole is looking for a major expansion in India. As a part of the development, many banks are starting new branches across India. Government of India is trying to bring in reforms in the banking sector by granting permissions to set up new private sector banks as well as allowing foreign banks into India. Thus arouse a demand for new baking professionals in this field. All banks are conducting various exams to select eligible candidates who are suitable for their organization. Exams are conducted separately for officer and clerical posts. Many banks have started advertising for recruiting PO’s in their banks as part of expansion.

There are various bank PO exams conducted by both private sector and public sector banks.19 public sector banks have formed a group and conducts common exam for the recruitment of  officers under the guidance of Institute of Banking Personal Selection ( IBPS). Bank PO exam Pattern

The pattern of the exam varies according to the recruitment board. Most of the bank PO recruitment exam includes an objective section and a descriptive part. But some bank PO exams have only the objective type section. If the exam has both objective and descriptive part the descriptive is valued only if the candidate passes in the objective section. The objective part includes Logical reasoning, Analytical ability, General awareness and English. Some banks include computer, marketing, financial awareness etc. There will be an interview for the candidates who pass this exam. Some banks also includes a group discussion section also.

General guidelines for preparing for Bank PO recruitment

  • The candidates should read the newspapers daily so as to perform well in general awareness section.
  • The candidates should focus on time management as the exam has too many questions compared to the time allotted.
  • They should also have good knowledge about the happenings in the baking sector.

Study plan for Bank PO recruitment

The candidates should focus on the important portions in the syllabus specified. They should practice a lot of sample question papers prior to the exam. They should refer books of R.S.Agarwal and S.Chand so as to be thorough with the various portions. They should be clear about the format of the exam before making a study plan. The candidate should be keen enough to go through all the topics before the exam at least once. They should also allot some time for revision in their study plan.
