Also known as IIIT-Delhi or IIIT-D, it was the Delhi Government itself which invested it with power and transforming it to a State University in the process and hence making it worthy to bestow degrees to students who earn it and also do research as well. The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology began to function in the year 2008 with 20 faculties now who are experts in various fields of Computer science and Technology. The IIIT-D evolved at a rapid rate gaining huge reputation and status on the way. The infrastructures and lab facilities are up to the mark.

The Institute now grants an opportunity for aspirants to attain a share of its knowledge and make them skillful in solving problems with a knack, by earning an admission for the B.Tech course it offers. The aspirants will have to qualify an entrance examination to be eligible for admission.

Structure and Syllabus IIIT B.Tech Test

The exam is in the Objective type category with 150 questions with multiple options for a correct answer and will be 3 hours long. The candidates will be relieved to know that there won’t be any mark deduction for wrong answers. So they don’t have to skip a question unanswered. The paper will test skills like:

• Comprehension
• Data Interpretation
• Mathematical Ability
• Analytical Ability
• Decision Making

There won’t be time limits to complete a section but the candidates will have to finish the exam within 180 minutes.

Eligibility Criteria

The Institute requires those candidates who managed to score more than 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for the Higher Secondary Board Exam of any recognized Boards. Candidates who qualified the Higher Secondary exam in the CBSE syllabus are also eligible.

The applications are to be compulsorily submitted before the exam. Late submissions are to be avoided. The form submission should be accompanied by a Demand draft of Rs 350/- in favor of the Institute and payable at Delhi. The amount once paid is not refundable under any circumstances.

How to fill the Form?

The information brochures that can be downloaded from the website mentioned above as well will provide all guidelines to the candidates on how to fill the forms and what all regulations should be followed while filling them. Candidates should take care not to make invalid entries. Once submitted, there won’t be any provisions to make any changes. So to avoid such a situation, the candidates are suggested to go through the entire filled up form and double check their entries.

Study Plan

The IIIT-D entrance examination tests the skills of the candidates. The candidates will stand a better chance if they cover all the easy questions first. So they are going to have to come up with a good strategy that can get them through the exam with ease and let them attend questions as much as they can. Use of reference materials can help a lot and they can use a little practice with similar questions before they face the examination. The examination would be so that the candidates would have to do a lot of thinking and computation to get the answers right. So while thinking, the candidates are advised to keep track of the time as well. Logical thinking skills can be developed with constant practice.

The data interpretation section requires the candidates to analyze the questions first, how they are interpreted and to deduce the answers from them. Apparently most of the questions require the IQ of the candidates. If correctly analyzed, the candidates won’t have to take much time to calculate the answer. Many coaching institutes offer training to hone such skills. The calculation and problem solving skill and speed of the candidates would be tested in the Mathematical ability section. So obviously practice is required to develop that skill and attain a new level. These skills that the candidates develop for the exam will definitely be of use in future one way or the other, even if they don’t qualify for the exam. The candidates are to keep the stress levels down and boost up their confidence before entering the exam hall.
