Subordinate Services Commission was re-designated as Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on 26th September, 1977. Making recruitment to Group C and Group B posts in departments of Government of India is the main responsibility of SSC. Nine regional/sub-regional offices located at different states of India consitutes the network of Staff Selection Commission. A Chairmen assisted by two members and a secretary or controller of Examination, heads the commission. The commission can also advise the Government of India about the method and mode of recruitment.

Job Profile:

Applications are invited from Graduate individuals for various positions in different Ministeries or Departments through an open competitive examination for recruitment, conducted by Staff Selection Commission. The various posts available in the different Ministeries or Departments are as follows:

1. Recruitment of Inspectors of Income Tax:
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.
Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from recognized university.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4600.

2. Recruitment of Assistants (CSS):
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years.
Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from recognized university.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4600.

3. Recruitment of Assistants (Central Government Minsiteries/Departments):
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years.
Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from recognized university.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

4. Recruitment of Inspector (Group B Non Gazetted):
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.

Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

5. Recruitment of Sub Inspectors in CBI:
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years.

Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

6. Recruitment of Assistant Enforcement Officers:
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.

7. Recruitment of Divisional Accountants in CAG Offices:
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.

8. Recruitment of Statistical Investigators Grade-II:
Age Limit: Candidates must be less than 26 years of age.

9. Recruitment of Auditors/Junior Accountants:
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.

10. Recruitment of Compilers (Office of RGI):
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 25 years.

11. Recruitment of Upper Division Clerk:

12. Recruitment of Tax Assistants (CBDT/CBEC):
