Institute of Science came into existence in the year 1906 with its name as Government Science College and the college was converted into Institute of Science in the year 1962. It is a government-run institution working under the control of the Department of Higher and Technical Education of Government of Maharashtra. It is one of the oldest pure science and research centre located in the central part of the nation, its spacious laboratories, class rooms and marvelous architecture still makes it one of the most sought after learning centre in the central part of the nation.
