Jhargram Raj College is wholly funded by the West Bengal Government and the college is offering degree and PG courses with affiliation from the Vidyasagar University. For administrative functionality, the college is governed by the rules and regulations of Government of West Bengal and for academic functioning, the college is governed by the Vidyasagar University. Jhargram Raj College came into existence in the year 1949 and the college was initially affiliated to the University of Calcutta, later from the year 1985, it is working under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University. In the year 2007, the college earned accreditation with B++ status from the NAAC.

Jhargram Raj College offers Arts, science and commerce courses not only at the UG level, but also at PG level.
UG Courses:
Jhargram Raj College offers UG courses in different disciplines both at general and honors level in subjects like:

The college presently offers physical education under general stream and it is planning to introduce honors in Santhali and Geography shortly.
PG Courses:
Jhargram Raj College presently offers PG course in three subjects and they are;
• Bengali
• Zoology
• Chemistry
The Bengali subject accommodates 30 students each year, while the chemistry and zoology subject accommodates 25 students each.
Eligibility requirement and admission procedure:
UG Courses: The three-year UG course in general and honors subjects are meant for candidates, who have completed their higher secondary education from the Council of Higher Secondary Education of the state of West Bengal or its equivalent examination as recognized by Vidyasagar University. For honors subjects, they must have secured not less than 45% of marks in aggregate or 50% in the concerned subject in the qualifying examination, while a pass is required for general subjects. Admission to UG courses will be based on past merit secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination.
PG Courses: Admission to PG courses offered by the institution is done according to the rules of Vidyasagar University. Candidates with B.Sc/B.A. (honors) from the same university are offered direct admission to PG courses on merit basis.
Hostels:
Hostels are Jhargram Raj College offers a unique convenience to the students, who are attending the college from faraway places. Accommodation in the hostel is offered to the students taking into consideration the distance of the college from their residence and the their financial condition. The total accommodation capacity of the hostels in the college is 265 students there are three hostels in the college namely Girls’ Hostel, New Boys’ Hostel and Vidyasagar Hostel (for boys).
