Karnataka public service commission conducts exam every year for selecting those who are eligible for various posts within the commission. The exam consists of preliminary exam and those who pass in the prelims are called for the main exam and interview. Selection is based on the main exam and the interview. For the main exam, General English, General knowledge and mathematics paper have to be answered by all the candidates. In addition to the compulsory subjects, the candidates need to answer any two out of the 12 optional papers. Administrative paper ii are a part of the optional papers and is chosen by many candidates.

Trend of the paper

The paper mainly consists of questions regarding the administration of the country. This is a very important paper as far as the candidates are concerned. The paper is printed in both English and Urdu. The paper is totally descriptive and there are no objective questions in the paper. The paper consists of two sections A and B. Both the sections need to be answered by the candidates. There are eight questions in the paper. The first five questions are compulsory and all of them need to be answered. From the remaining questions, three need to be answered by the candidates. Both sections consist of four questions each.

Maximum marks and time allotment

The duration of the paper is three hours and the candidates will not be given any reading time since the exam is competitive. They should break the seal only on the invigilator’s instruction. The paper is for a total of 300 marks. A candidate has to score a minimum of 35% to pass the exam. The marks are divided equally between the sections.

Topping the exam

To score very well and get to the top of the list, you need to work very hard. The best way to score high is too learn according to the syllabus. After covering all the portions in the syllabus, you should make use of previous year question papers and books with regard to this exam. Familiarize the paper pattern and this will help you to feel easy at the examination.
