Bharathi Vidyapeeth is a deemed university, which began its functionalities officially from the 26^th of April 1996 after it received a notice from the Indian Government stating that it was awarded the status of university under the University Grants Commission Act combining 12 institutions functioning under Bharathi Vidyapeeth. The institution was given the status of university with a view to appreciate the contribution made by it for educational excellence and for the infrastructural facilities offered by it. The university has two campuses, one at Dhankawadi and another campus at Erandwane and it is offering education in architecture, management, engineering, pharmacy, nursing, homeopathy, ayurved, dentistry, medicine, etc… through the affiliated colleges. As mentioned earlier, Bharti Vidyapeeth University has two campuses and the main campus of the university at Dhankawadi is spread over an area of 85 acres of land and this campus is called as Katraj Campus. This campus is acting as a house for 24 colleges coming under different disciplines and offers other facilities like Bharathi bank branch, ATM center, canteens, hostels, mess facility and 24 hrs medical store. The other campus is located at the main part of the city of Pune known as Eranwane campus. Even the second campus includes several facilities like play fields, hostels, dispensary, postal and banking services, canteen, etc… and five colleges are also functioning in the campus. The main aim of the university is social transformation and the university strives to achieve this objective through education.
