Symbiosis International University is a part of the Symbiosis Society, which is the managing body of the university. The society was formed in the year 1971 and it is a multi-institutional, co-educational and private university located in the city of Pune in the state of Maharashtra in India.

The university has been recognized by AICTE and UGC. The university has also been awarded with A grade status by the NAAC and the university was offered with autonomous status in the year 2002 after which a number of institutions were brought under its jurisdiction. It was offered this status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Symbiosis University has nine campuses spread over the city of Banglore, Nashik and Pune and it has 19 academic institutions as well. The list of institutions and colleges coming under this university is as follows:

Symbiosis International University is popular for its student-base from all over the world. In the year 2002, the university was awarded the status of deemed university and after that in the year 2006, the UGC withdrew the term ‘deemed’ and renamed the university with its present name.

Symbiosis University is offering 117 courses with 71 programmes through its institutions. These courses are offered under eleven different categories namely economics, language, geo-informatics, engineering, humanities, media, Design & communication, health sciences, computer studies, law and telecom management.

As mentioned earlier, the university currently has nine campuses and four more campuses are going to be included. The admission of students from foreign countries is taken care by a separate department of the university.
