Babu Banarasi Das University came into existence in the year 1998 and the university is located in the city of Lunckow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The university was established through a State Legislative Act as a state private university and the University Grants Commission has empowered the university to confer degrees on candidates. The university is shortly called as BBDU and it aims at transforming the way people think by teaching them teamwork and leadership skills, problem solving skills, ethical behavior, value of commitment to quality and respect to other. The university was named after the ex-chief minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Babu Banarasi Das.

Different schools pertaining to applied sciences, hotel management, computer applications, architecture, pharmacy, dental sciences, management and engineering are functioning under the university to offer education in these disciplines. For getting into the UG engineering courses offered by the university, students must have valid UPSEE or AIEEE score and for BDS course, they must have valid Uttar Pradesh Common Pre-Medical Test or UPCAT Dental. For pharmacy course, they must possess valid UPSEE score. Babu Banarasi Das University is located in urban campus in a 250 acres campus on the Faizabad - Lucknow road.
