Banasthali University is a wholly residential women’s University offering education right from the primary level to the Ph. D level. The university was established in the year 1935 on the 6th of October by Pandit Hiralal Shastri and Smt. Ratan Shastri to come out of the sad demise of their highly talented daughter Shatabai. Since they felt that their daughter would work for the upliftment of women when she grew older, they established this women’s university in her fond remembrance after her death. Therefore, this university is an educational institution working not only for the development of education, but also for the service to women.

Banasthali University is one among the five universities in India running exclusively for women candidates. Over the past seven decades, the university has developed itself as a National Centre for Women’s Education with the aim of bringing about overall development of the personality of its students.  The university is offering education in the faculties of social sciences, mathematics & computing, management, life sciences, humanities, home science, fine arts and education and several departments are functioning under these faculties to offer the best education to the women community.
