Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth came into existence in the year 1969 on the 20th of October and the headquarters of the university is located in the city of Akola in Maharashtra. The university was given this name in honor of the most popular son of Vidarbha Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, who acted as the Agricultural Minister of Government of India. The jurisdiction of the university is spread over 11 districts of Vidarbha and the university is entrusted with the duty of offering extension education, education and conducting research in the field of agriculture.

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth is offering education under two faculties namely faculty of Agriculture and faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology. Under these faculties 17 departments are functioning in total of which 11 department belong to agricultural faculty and 6 departments belong to agricultural engineering & technology faculty. For seeking admission to the Ph. D courses offered by the university, candidates must have completed their post graduation in appropriate discipline and for seeking admission to the PG courses, candidates must have completed their UG course in appropriate discipline.

As far as eligibility for UG courses are concerned, candidates must have completed their higher secondary from the Maharastra State Board or any other equivalent examination with English, mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry subjects. In the case of candidates who have studied mathematics at their 10+2 level, they should complete the deficiency course offered by this university to further their education to the UG level.

Colleges belonging to the faculties of horticulture, forestry, agricultural engineering & technology and agriculture are acting as constituent unit of this university.

    Hi. Sir,
    my brother wants to take admission in B.Tech agricultural engineering. But he has not taken maths in 12th and has only physics,chemistry,biology,english and fisheries in 12th. So can he take admission in B.Tech agricultural engineering?
    Please sir reply as early as possible
