Ranchi University was established in the year 1960 on the 12th of June as a teaching-cum-affiliating university. The university has recently upgraded the syllabus for the mainstream courses in the faculties of commerce, humanities and science to meet the needs of the University Grants Commission. Ranchi University is offering education in the faculties of law, engineering, education, medicine, social science, science, humanities and commerce and it is offering education under 24 different departments functioning under the aforesaid faculties of education.
