Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences & Technology shortly called as SCTIMST is offering education from the city of Trivandrum/Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala. The institute is presently offering education as an autonomous institution of national importance under the administrative control of the Science and Technology department of the Indian Government.

The institute lays attention on health research studies of social relevance, technology development of industrial significance and the best patient care. The stress of the institute is on development of global public health networks, new educational programmes, evaluation of medical devices of global specifications, new biomedical devices and products, deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, microsurgery and surgery for epilepsy. Ph.D admissions at SCTIMST:

Selection of candidates to the Ph. D courses in different disciplines offered by the Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences is done twice in a year during the months of November and June and the universities issues notification regarding the availability of research guides and seats for Ph. D courses during the months of September and May respectively every year through its website.

Minimum educational qualification requirement for Ph. D Admissions:

For getting into the Ph. D courses offered by the SCTIMST University, candidates must be PG degree holders in Zoology, physiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, polymer sciences/polymer chemistry, materials science, chemistry and physics or any other branch of life sciences exclusive of plant science. Candidates should have consistent good educational record with not less than 60% of marks at UG and at PG level for getting into the Ph. D courses. However, for candidates with PG in science stream, the minimum qualifying marks is 70% and for medical graduates the qualifying percentage is 60% at the MBBS course and the university is not specifying any upper age limit for admission to Ph. D courses.
