Sri Venkateswara Vedic University was established because of the sincere efforts of His Excellency Shri Rameshwar Thakur Ji, who wanted to enquire about the functioning of the university, which was decided to be established earlier by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Since he found that the university has not so far been established, he asked the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam for getting permission from the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of Andhra Pradesh for setting of the university and finally the university was established with a view of offering vedic education.

The university is operating from its headquarters in the city of Tirupati and its activities include publication, research and teaching in veda and related fields. It is presently acting as an affiliating-cum-residential university with a chancellor and a vice-chancellor. The university is offering education under four different faculties namely Veda Bhashyadhyayana, faculty of purohityadhyayana, faculty of agamdhyayana and faculty of veda adhyayana. The university is presently offering the following courses:

Three year Sastri Course (graduation)

Two-year Acharya Course (post graudation)

Both these courses are offered in the following subjects:

Vedadhyayana:

o Rigveda (Sakala)

o Krishna Yajurveda (Taittiriya)

o Suklayajurveda (Kanva)

o Samaveda (Kauthuma)

Agama:

o Vaikhanasagama

o Pancharathragama

o Saivagama

Paurohitya:

o Asvalayana Paurohitya

o Apastambiya Paurohitya

o Vaikhanasa Paurohitya

o Paraskara Paurohitya

Vedabhashya:

o Krishnayajurvedabhashya

o Suklayajurvedabhashya (Kanva)

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University offers certain amenities and incentives to its students pursuing the Adhyayana courses of Vedabhashya, Paurohitya, Agama and veda. With a view to propagate and promote the quickly disappearing disciplines of knowledge that stood as an important component of Indian culture and wisdom, students under this category are offered with incentive of Rs. 1 Lakh during the time of admission to the degree or doctoral courses. On successful completion of the course, amount deposited in a nationalized bank consisting of accrued interest and principle will be handed over to the graduates. In addition, students are also offered with accommodation and free food in the hostel running under the university. Rooms in the hostel are furnished and the food consist of breakfast along with evening snacks, lunch and breakfast and dinner with milk. They are also offered with free clothing in addition to notebooks and textbooks for free of cost. Totally 25 departments are functioning under the university for offering education in the different subjects mentioned earlier. Thus, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University offers its best possible for preservation of holy Veda in the nation.
