This institute was founded by Shri H.L.Gupta in the year 1936 as a small school with just 2 students. The school was the first co-educational institute in Jammu during that period. Through his consistent efforts the school further shaped into Model Institute of Engineering and Technology which has gained reputation for the past years. The idea of converting the school to college emerged in 1994 and it was actually established in 1998. This is the first engineering college in Jammu and Kashmir managed by private sector. The college has so far produced 4000 eminent engineering graduates.

Admission Procedure:

The candidate’s admission process for engineering courses is guided by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BPEE) held by the State Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Admission is based squarely on the merit marks obtained in the BPEE. However, the management quota allots the seats for NRI and sponsored candidates as per the regulations governed by the norms of the AICTE.

For getting admission to MCA and MBA programs the student should write an entrance test conducted by the Jammu University. Some seats are allotted for MCA on management quota also.

This institute provides state-of-art computing facilities for the students operating more than 350 computers and 9 computer labs. They provide net connectivity through high end servers. The library holds vast collection of books and journals belonging to both national and international. The students can also access IEEE journals via online at the library.
