Master of Science in Medical Microbiology is a post graduate programme that deals with the advanced study of micro organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. It includes the study of microbial pathogenesis and epidemiology. Graduation in respective subject with a minimum of 55 % marks is the educational qualification required to apply for this course.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the post graduate programme in medical microbiology will be based on the area of graduation in any of the subjects such as MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, ayurveda medicine, homeopathy medicine, physiotherapy and B.Sc nursing etc. Apart from this, candidates who have completed graduation in any of the science subjects are also eligible to apply for this course. Candidates should obtain a minimum of 55 % aggregate marks in graduation from any university recognized by UGC. Candidates belonging to reserved category need to have 50 % marks only. Apart from these, candidates should have studied physics, chemistry, zoology or botany in the bachelor’s degree, as well as higher secondary board examination.

Admission to the course is based on the scores obtained in the qualifying degree. Some universities conduct entrance examination for the admission process. Candidates who have completed this course can start their career as research scientist, clinical associate, clinical microbiologist, toxicologists, forensic scientist and biostatistician. Apart from this they can go for PhD programme as well.
