Master of Science in Nursing is a two year post graduate course which is opted by nursing graduates as a higher study option. A number of colleges and universities offer Master of Science in Nursing course. B.Sc. Nursing graduates who fulfill all the eligibility criteria can apply for the course. Admission procedure varies from college to college. Candidates can do an M.Sc in any of the following fields:

  • Master of Science in Child Health (Pediatric) Nursing
  • Master of Science in Community Health Nursing
  • Master of Science in Medical Surgical Nursing
  • Master of Science in Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing
  • Master of Science in Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed any of the following B.Sc Nursing courses from a recognized University are eligible to apply:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Basic)
  • Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Post Certificate Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination. Relaxation of marks is allowed for candidates who belong to the reservation category.

Only those candidates with a minimum of one year work experience in nursing field are eligible to apply.

Candidates are also required to fulfill the age criteria so as to apply for post graduation in Nursing. The age requirement varies from college to college.

Admission Procedure

Candidates are required to download the application form from the official websites of universities/colleges in order to apply for the exam. Application forms can also be obtained from the specified counters or by post.

Duly filled in application forms should be sent to the address specified in the prospectus. Candidates are also required to enclose registration fee and other relevant documents.

Admission to the Master of Science programme in Nursing is done through the entrance examination conducted by concerned colleges. Eligible candidates will be intimated regarding the examination date. Entrance test conducted by different colleges follow different exam patterns. The examination will be based on the B.Sc. Nursing syllabus.
