NCHMCT 2011 BSc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration
The number of hospitality and hotel management colleges in India is rising with a rapid growth. This is because of the rising demand of the courses of hospitality and Hotel administration. Students are getting attracted towards this arena with a greater force. This affinity of the students has given rise to many world class institutes of hospitality and Hotel administration.
Admission to these world class institutes in various course like B.sc in hospitality and hotel administration is done through an entrance examination. The entrance examination that helps in the selection of these courses is National council For hotel Management and catering Technology.
NCHMCT aims at recruiting the best professionals for the hospitality and hotel administration institutes all over the world. These consist of all kinds of institutes starting from private to state and central based.
Formed in the year 1982, under the tourism ministry, NCHMCT is maintained by the government of India and is actually meant for enhancement of hospitality and hotel industries in India. It is believed that through these high standard recruitment examinations, we can get access to the best students who can further uplift the standard of hospitality and hotel industry in India. Every year a huge number of tourists from various corners of the world visit us and with help of this selection procedure, where the best gets the chance, we will ultimately enhance the condition of our tourism industry.
The BSc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration programme is offered by NCHMCT in affiliation with Indira Gandhi National open University (IGNOU). The programme is open to the candidates from all the streams.
The admission to the programme is done through a written test which is conducted at 23 cities across India. Presently candidates can get admission in 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 7 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management, 7 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT and 6 Food Craft Institutes located in different parts of the country. There are approximately 5700 seats combined in all these instititues for admission to B.Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration programme.
Eligibility criteria:
A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with English as a subject. Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 can also apply.
Also a candidate should not be more than 22 years of age (25 years for SC/ST) as on 1st July, 2011.
Availability of Application forms:
The forms will be available from all the participating/affiliated institutes and designated branches of Canara Bank. Candidates can also download the form online through the website www.nchmct.org. Downloaded form should be send with a demand draft.
Important Dates:
Date of Entrance Examination: 2nd week of May, 2011
Availability of Application Forms: 3rd week to 4th week of February, 2011
Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: end of March, 2011
Declaration of Results: 1st week of June, 2011
Pattern of Examination:
The paper will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 200 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each divided in the following sections:
Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude-30 questions
Reasoning and Logical Deduction-30 questions
General Knowledge & Current Affairs-30 questions
English Language-80 questions
Aptitude for Service Sector-30 questions
There will be negative marking upto 1/2 marks for all the sections except Aptitude for Service Sector.

I have scored 741 AIR in Nchmct exam 2010. I passed my +2 (non-medical) in 2009 with an aggregate marks of 58% from Council for Indian School Certificate, New Delhi.
Sir, according to ISC rules,a candidate has to appear in exams of 6 subjects but a pass certificate is awarded to a student who passes in 4 out of 6 subjects.With a similar situation, I have cleared 5 out of 6 subjects(eng-80,comp-78,eed-76,chem-52,phy-42 and maths-16) and was awarded a pass cretificate.Now on the basis of this pass certificate, am I elligible for councelling and admission to an IHM?
