Union Bank of India is a leading bank in the nation and it is a state-owned bank with the government holding 55.43% of its share capital. The bank has a network of around 1135 ATM centres and it offers online tele-banking facility to all its core banking customers, individuals as well as corporates.

Recruitment by Union Bank of India:

Union Bank of India has invited online applications from eligible candidates for the position of Probationary Officer and here are the details regarding the notification issued by the bank in this respect:

Name of the Position: Probationary Officer (JMGS-I)

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 2473, which is divided among the different category of candidates as given below:

UR – 1241

OBC – 663

ST – 201

SC – 368

Out of these 2473 positions, 37 positions are reserved for Orthopedically Challenged candidates, 64 for Visually impaired candidates and 64 for Hearing Impaired candidates.

Period of Probation: Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of 24 months (2 years) from the date of his/her joining the bank. Selected candidates will have to execute a service bond for a period of three years or they will have to deposit a sum of Rs.2 lakhs if they are leaving the bank before the completion of three years.

Educational qualification:

Candidates must be graduates in any discipline with from a university recognized by the Government of India securing not less than 55% of aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/HI/VI/OC candidates). Preference will be given to candidates with Diploma in Banking & finance form the Institute of Banking & Finance and with a certificate of having completed a course in office automation and computer awareness for a duration of at least 60 hours from a reputed computer training institution. Preference will be given to candidates with valid CWE score conducted by IBPS.

Age requirement: Minimum age requirement to apply for the position of Probationary Officer is 21 years and maximum age requirement is 30 years as on the 1st of July 2011.

Mode of Selection:

Selection of candidates will be based on their performance in interview and bank reserves the right the change of mode of selection on the basis of factors like eligible applications, etc…

Application fee:

Application fee to be paid by general candidates is Rs.200 and by candidates belonging to SC/ST category is Rs.50 and this fee should be paid through bank challan given in the notification page at http://unionbankofindia.co.in/pdf/POsvn11122011ibpsapproved.pdf and the fee should be paid through any branches of Union Bank of India. After payment of fee, candidates will have to obtain the applicant’s copy of counterfoil with date of deposit of fee, 3-10 digit transaction ID, branch SOL ID and Branch Name and these details should be provided in the online application.
