Cochin Shipyard Limited came into existence in the year 1972 and the company is wholly-owned by the Government of India. In the past three decades, the company has developed itself as a forerunner in the industry of ship repairing and ship building in India.

Cochin Shipyard Limited has invited applications from eligible candidates on contract basis for the positions of Semi Skilled Welder and Semi Skilled Structural Fitter. Here are the details regarding the notification issued by the company for the same:

Name of the positions: Semi Skilled Welder, Semi Skilled Structural Fitter

Number of Vacancies: Total number of Vacancies is 74, which is divided as follows:

• Semi Skilled Welder – 50

• Semi Skilled Structural Fitter - 24

Remuneration: Candidates appointed for both these positions will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs.6750 per month.

Contract Period: The period of Contract will be one year.

Eligibility Requirement:

Educational Qualification:

Semi Skilled Welder: Candidates must have completed their SSLC, ITI (NTC) in Welder and they should have National Apprentice Certificate.

Semi Skilled Structural Fitter: Candidates must have completed their SSLC, ITI (NTC) in fitter/steel metal worker and they should have National Apprentice Certificate.

Experience: For both the positions, candidates must possess at least three years experience in engineering industry/ structural fitting in a shipyard/training in MIG Welding and Manual Arc Welding.

Age requirement: Upper age limit is 30 years as on the 27th of June 2011, which is relaxable by 10 years for PWD, 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.

Mode of Selection:

Candidates will have to walk-in between 9 and 15 hours on the 08th of 09th of July at the Cochin Shipyard Indoor Stadium. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements will be short-listed and these candidates will have to attend practical test on the same day or on a later day at the discretion of the shipyard.
