In government sector-
You can get jobs in PSUs,i.e.,maharatna,navratna companies like NTPC,COAL INDIA, GAIL (India) Limited,Airports Authority of India,Bridge & Roof Company (India) Limited,Cochin Shipyard Limited,etc.
You can also get job in Railways and Metro Rail Cooperation.
You can join Nationalized Banks.
You can become IAS,IPS,IFS officer.
You can also work in post offices and telegraph centers.

What is the scope & growth in designing area for civil engg.

Civil Engineers regardless of their gender can apply in government sector by appearing for the Indian Engineering Service exam or Public Sector Undertaking exam. These are the two good options for the engineering graduates in the government sector.


Indian Engineering Service (IES)

The Indian Engineering Service is a annual exam conducted for engineering students by the Union Public Service Commission. There are some very good and reputed jobs in government sector on offering through Indian Engineering Service. The candidates are offered jobs in various government departments. Some example are:

Indian Defence Service of Engineers (Civil Engineering Posts)

Indian Ordance Factories Services

Indian Railway Service of Engineers.

Central Engineering Service


Eligibility

1. You should be of Indian origin to apply.

2. B.Tech degree from a recognized university.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of examination year.

5. There is upto 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC.

6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.


Public Sector Undertaking (PSU)

The Public Sector Undertaking is basically a company which is controlled by the government. In India there are more than 150 Public Sector Undertakings. You can apply for job following a notification by the company.

Since there is no single entrance exam, you will have to separately apply for each company. The selection process include a written test which is followed by interview. But some companies do not conduct their own entrance exam. In such case you will have to show your GATE exam score. Therefore please ensure that you also appear for General Aptitude Test for Engineering.


Eligibility

1. Indian citizens only are eligible for PSU jobs.

2. You should have valid B.Tech/B.E. degree.

3. At least 60 percent marks in B.Tech.

4. There should not be any pending backlogs.

5. The age limit is 21 to 30 years.

6. Upto 3 years relaxation for OBC.

7. Upto 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.
