Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing is one of the nine constituent colleges of the Sri Ramachandra University located in Chennai and the college came into existence in the year 1993 on the 27th of December. The college began its journey with UG course in nursing, it slowly introduced PG course in nursing and post basic nursing course, and presently it is registering candidates for Ph. D in the faculty of nursing as well.

Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing offers the following courses in the faculty of nursing:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

• Bachelor of Science in Post Basic Nursing

• Master of Science in Nursing with the following specialties

o Psychiatry nursing

o Community health nursing

o Obstetrics & gynaecological nursing

o Pediatric nursing

o Medical surgical nursing

• Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Full-time & part-time)

Curricula for these courses are governed by the rules laid by Indian Nursing Council, Council of Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives and educational senate of Sri Ramachandra University.

Admission Requirements:

The admission requirement for each of the above-mentioned courses offered by the Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing is given below:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing:

Minimum age requirement for admission to this four-year course is 17 years as on the 30th of June in the year in which a candidate is seeking admission and maximum age limit is 35 years. The minimum educational qualification is that candidates must have completed their class 12 examination or senior school certificate or pre-degree examination or other equivalent examination from a recognized board or university with biology, chemistry, physics and English subjects and must have secured a minimum of 45% of aggregate marks and candidates should be medically fit.

Bachelor of Science in Post Basic Nursing:

The upper age limit for admission to this two-year course is 40 years as on the 31st of December in the year in which a candidate is seeking admission. The minimum educational qualification is that candidates must have completed their diploma in nursing and should have registered with State Nursing Council. They should also possess minimum two-years of nursing service as on the 30th of June in which he/she is seeking admission in any recognized institution or hospital or as full-time public health nurse. Medical fitness certificate should also be produced by the candidates from an authorized medical officer.

Master of Science in Nursing:

The duration of this course is two years and the college is approved with an intake capacity of 30 students in total combining all branches. For getting into this course, candidates must have completed their B. Sc Post Basic or general nursing awarded by the Sri Ramachandra University or any other recognized university and they should have registered with the state nursing council. They should have minimum one-year experience in a recognized educational institution or hospital.
