One of the most reputed universities in India providing under graduate and post graduate courses in Veterinary and animal sciences, the TANUVAS started as an agricultural institute and later became acknowledged as a college in the early 1900s.The TANUVAS then obtained affiliation from the University of Madras in the 1930s.The University has been immensely successful in making the admitted aspirants eligible for and earn a very successful career in reputed firms all around the nation.

M.V.Sc (Master of Veterinary Sciences) and M.F.Sc (Master of Fisheries Science) are but just two of the many courses offered by the University. The TANUVAS suggests candidates to do M.F.Sc in Fisheries Colleges and Research Institute, Thoothukkudi and do M.V.Sc in Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal. 75% of the seats are reserved for Tamil Nadu based candidates and the remaining for candidates from all around India.

Structure of TANUVAS M.V.Sc./M.F.Sc.

The M.F.Sc and M.V.Sc admissions are considered based primarily on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination conducted by the TANUVAS. There will be 200 objective type questions in the question paper with multiple choices for the correct answer. Each question carries 0.5 marks and the test will be 3 hours long. Total marks for the test is 100.

Syllabus for TANUVAS M.V.Sc./M.F.Sc.

The syllabus for the entrance exam will be from that of the B.F.Sc and B.V.Sc syllabuses for M.F.Sc and M.V.Sc respectively and will be relative to and concerned with the discipline they chose for the Bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have successfully qualified the Bachelor’s degree in order to attempt for admission to do a Master’s degree (M.F.Sc. and M.V.Sc.) with a total percentage of 55.Candidates who are in the last year of their Bachelor’s degree course are also eligible and seek admission for a Master’s degree. Candidates from defence background and reservation category will have a reduction in the overall fee structure for the course.

How to Apply?

The candidates are to neatly fill up and submit application forms along with the required certificates that will be given in the application form itself and the instruction brochure. The candidates can receive the application forms from the University directly. If the candidates find it difficult to get to the University for the application forms, then they can download it directly from the TANUVAS official website – www.tanuvas.ac.in or the candidates can use postal service to receive the application forms along with the prospectus by simply sending a demand draft along with a requisite letter to the authority concerned with the entrance exams.

Indian National Candidates can have the application forms for a registration fee of Rs 600/- and SC/ST candidates can have them for Rs 300/-.It will be $50 per form for a foreign national candidate. The demand draft with the registration fee should be payable at Chennai and in favour of “The Finance Officer ,TANUVAS, Chennai-51”.The D.D should have the candidate’s signature sample as well.

Applications without registration fees will be rejected.

Applications submitted too late obviously after the last due date of submission will be rejected.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates are to have intense care, accuracy and precision while filling up the form. Indifferently filling up important application forms like this can prove to have catastrophic after-effects, as an invalid entry might jeopardize the admission attempt of the candidate. The University suggests the use of black ball point pens to fill the application forms. Writing mistakes should be cleared using whiteners.

The candidates will be provided with a prospectus which contains all the guidelines that a candidate should follow while filling the form. So the candidates must make sure to go through all the contents in the prospectus before they start filling up the forms. Besides this the candidates should also submit their passport sized photo along with other certificates as per the guidelines along with the application. The candidates should not fail in submitting the forms with all the other requirements on or before the last date published by the University.

Almost all coaching centres in Tamil Nadu provides coaching for Master’s degree entrance tests. But for veterinary and animal sciences ,there are only a handful.

Reference Books for TANUVAS M.V.Sc./M.F.Sc.

The reference and study materials can be easily accumulated by the candidates if they have the books they used to study their Bachelor’s degree course. The bibliography of the Bachelor’s degree for the discipline the candidates have is more than enough to pass the TANUVAS entrance exam in flying colours. Besides these, the candidates can also make use of entrance exam guides which also serves the same purpose.

Study Plan

Success in entrance exams of all kinds requires planning, resources, extensive hard work and immense concentration. With suitable resources and apt planning, the candidates can easily pass the entrance examination for admission to do the Master’s degree in TANUVAS. The resources include guides and the bibliography of the Bachelor’s degree qualified by the candidates. Candidate has to wisely spend time on different topics in the syllabus for the exam so that all topics are covered and there’s still more time for revision. But most off all, the candidates should have strong will, determination and the capacity to work hard. If the candidates are able to pull off all these activities then they can surely taste success in the entrance examination.

How and Where To Get the Results?

As soon as the evaluation procedure is completed the TANUVAS will publish the results in their official website – www.tanuvas.ac.in.

Score Validity

The results for entrance examination conducted by the TANUVAS for the Master’s degree programme have validity only for a year.
