Hello sir,
actually these both feilds are elaborating their scopes and jobs. in Food tech it all includes about the food packaging, backery, confectionary products, meat-fish, packaging. you may go in felds of dietetics, food production, marketting, preservations, food industries, quality control, hotels, hospitals, distelleries, soft drinks factories, rice mills, research factories, agro based sectors etc. In bio tech - marketing and sales, research, development, manufacturing, quality control, genetics, cloning, etc they have employment opportunities in Actionbiojobs org biospace life works etc as per concerning about to choosing career than its totally depends on one's interest. by my side go for BTECH in Biotech. |

Re: B. Tech (Biotech) Vs B. Tech (Food technology)
-biotech
well... this is the same field wherein i pursue my Btech from..... there are companies who take them ..... but only in some pharmaceutical firms..... which may not pay a gud looking salary..... but pursuing a clinical research course after biotech can help in earn a handsome salary..... otherwise further studies have no end and ultimately leads to teachings jobs...... My Advice: try clinical research or else pursue Masters...... its always better to be Jack of all trades.........mastering one will leave you limit ur opportunities. some institutes in India offering biotechnology courses are University of Pune, Sinhagad College of Science in Maharashtra, Al-Ameen College, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Anna University in Tamil Nadu, Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab University in Punjab. for more details regarding the admission procedures in these colleges , you can visit their official websites . -food technology There is very good scope for B.Tech in Food Technology & Processing from any recognised university. Food processing is the set of methods and techniques used to transform raw ingredients into food for consumption by humans or animals. The food processing industry utilises these processes. For more information and the list of Agriculture Universities please visit this site: http://www.adhyapak.com (look under career) Hope this will be of help to you. cheers |

Re: B. Tech (Biotech) Vs B. Tech (Food technology)
Let me tell you one thing there is very poor scope of Biotech in India she will have to go to abroad for research, people go abroad for higher studies because they do not get job here anyways. I know many people who have done biotech and they are all jobless. Biotech seems attractive for those who have not done it, no jobs and almost everybody is doing it.
Food tech is still a better option as there is at least less competetion for jobs |

Re: B. Tech (Biotech) Vs B. Tech (Food technology)
Biotechnology VS Food Technology
Today we are noticing the rapid growth of Packaged and ready to eat Foods, snack, Amul Milk etc... no doubt all these are growing impact of Food Technology. Which ahs created and plethora of oppurtunities for skilled professionals in this field. After B.Tech Food Technology its the best field. Food Technologists are reponsible for development processing, packageing and distribution of products to Consumers. Your Daughter can work as Production Manager, Food Packaging Manager, Product Development Manager, ETC........ Oppurtunities are also higher after M.Tech and MBA. Where as India being the no 1 Pharmacy hub in the world, and increasing use of Exotic things, species, etc. Biotechnological application in chemical, oil, paint, food industry and many more things has made Biotechnology as an uprising field in India. And in coming days, it will explore the Technologycial India. Biotech has such a wide scope as because its application in more or less every sector ranging from Paints manufacturing industry to Pharmaceutical Industry, From Agricultural field to Petroleum etc...... Very wide and endless scope in coming days. Now she can decide which field to opt for . Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

I seriously think that BDS is a lot better than Biotech especially f you want a job in India For biotech you would have to go to abroad for research only then you will get a good job.

First of all there is no comparition between BDS and Biotechnology. Both are entirely different thing. I think you are worried which course to chice so that you can expect some good job and career. Thing is that you als know that at present Scanerio BDS is a better option then Biotech. But it is also fact that in coming 10 years Biotech is going to just boom the Indian Technology and will creat a situation in which likewise Core Engineering subject being the first choice of preferance for engineering student Biotech will also take a place in that list. Remember my words in coming 10 year Biotech will be seen as it would be never before, and I am sure of the fact. |

Re: B. Tech (Biotech) Vs B. Tech (Food technology)
i think biotech is best for your child because now days in India many job opportunities are available for a biotech student if we compared with food technology. so i suggest biotech is the best option for your daughter.
beside this if your daughter is interested in food technology then you should be go for that because without interest there is no way of success. |

Re: B. Tech (Biotech) Vs B. Tech (Food technology)
Sir,
Bio tech is an overview of different aspects.. but food technology is a specialisation in one area covered under bioTech.. course content will be same except a few subjects.. Job prospects can be similar after your basic degree in BioTech or foodTech your daughter can do BioTech at undergraduate level.. this will widen her job possibilities.. if she is interested in further studies, she can take up FoodTech at her Master's level.. |

B.tech biotech involves much more practical knowledge while Bsc. is very much about theory only hence B.tech provides more opportunity

Think can do a b.tech in biotechnology then go for an m.tech in food technology that gives u a specialization... Get a job in food industry work for sometime. Load urself with an mba and start ur own company.do all this in India itself. Yet if u feel now interested in biotech do an m.s abroad using ur b.tech bio and can pursue research... This is wat i have planned... Inshallah

first of all scope of job is very high in food while its less in biotechnology. chances of growth in food technology is high in the near future while that of the biotechnology is redundant experience in btech( biotech) is also restricted to research area only suitable for research and development aspects. while good opportunity is only available at phd level.' best of luck from my side |
