Thirumala Devaswom Medical College is popularly known as T.D. Medical College and this college came into existence in the year 1963. The college offers a number of courses in the faculty of medicine and allied disciplines with affiliation from the University of Kerala. Selection procedure:

Selection of candidates to the MBBS course offered the TD Medical College is done based on the Entrance Examination conducted by the state board of entrance examinations of the state of Kerala, while 25% of the seats are filled through All India Entrance Examination. Admissions to the MD and MS courses are done based on the entrance examination as described for the graduation courses.

Government takeover:

Since the University of Kerala raised an objection in running medical college in the state, the management of the college faced financial problems at a stage and therefore, the government of Kerala, came into the rescue of the college. This was done by the government by taking over the management of the college from the 17th of October 1967 under agreement for a period of five years. At the end of five years since the trust was not ready to take back the college, the college vested with the government of Kerala and this was confirmed through Government Order dated the 23rd of October 1973.
