Northern Region Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute was founded in the year 1963 at Hisar. The institute was initially started as a training institute but later the testing wing was also added to the centre in the year 1973. The institute comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and its major purpose is to test the self propelled combine harvester in addition to existing testing facilities for all types of farm equipment. The another major function of the institute is to conduct training courses in operation, maintenance and repair of farm machinery.
