The University of Kashmir was established instantly after independence.  The university is situated in Srinagar. The University has been recognized by the University Grants Commission. This University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It has been accredited with the A++ grade for its valuable contribution in the field of higher education.

The University offers courses in both regular and distance modes. University of Kashmir organizes entrance examination in M.A Mass Communication and Journalism for the aspirants interested in the same.

Structure of University of Kashmir M.A in Mass Communication and Journalism Entrance Exam

The entrance examination in Mass Communication and Journalism consists of two papers. But the examination of both the papers is carried out on a single day. The test of the first paper is conducted in the forenoon where as the second paper is conducted in the afternoon. The first paper comprises of 60 multiple choice questions which carries a total of 60 marks. The second paper contains 5 questions. Candidates have to finish the examination within 150 minutes. The maximum marks allotted for the paper II is 60 marks. For evaluating the final score of a candidate, the marks obtained for both the papers are considered.

  • Media Terminology– Generally used terms by media Print and electronic
  • Channel, DD National Network and Prominent National
  • Persons in news (local/ national/international)

  • Who’s who in print and electronic media (local and national)-(Editors/Columnists/Prominent Writers/Anchors / Producers /Directors)

Paper II

  • Topical Essays books
  • Personality profile (local/national/international)
  • Comment/s on local Print and/or Electronic Media
  • Comment/s on national Print and/or Electronic Media
  • A 300-Word creative piece on a given theme

Eligibility Criteria

The aspirant must have completed Bachelor of Arts in the related subject. They should also possess a minimum of 40% aggregate marks from any of the reputed institutes or from the University of Kashmir. Those candidates who full fill the above criterion are eligible to appear for the M.A Mass Communication and Journalism entrance exam conducted by the University.

How to Apply?

Students can purchase the application form of M.A in Mass Communication and Journalism from the sales counters of the University of Kashmir on the payment of Rs.250/-. The forms will be available on all the week days from the last week of February till the first week of March. The admission brochure comprises of a serial number. The candidates have to use this serial number while filling the online application form.

How to fill the Form?

Candidates are advised to read the instructions given in the admission brochure before filling the application form. Each and every entry to the application form must be made very carefully. The students have to write the name of the course in block letters on the top of the envelope.

    i have done my bachlers in mass communication n want to aply for m.a in mass com.i wanted to know y has not d university of kashmir reserved seats for those who have done their bachlers in mass com. We are only eligible for two subjects msw and ma in journalism and those who have done graduation in any stream are elligible for journalism this is very unfair
