Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences shortly called as GAIMS is a private public partnership venture between the Gujarat Government and the Adani Education and Research Foundation. The institution is affiliated to Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University and a permission letter was issued by the ministry of family welfare and health belonging to the government of India on the 13th of July 2009 to the institution for starting a medical college at Bhuj. As a result of this permission, a medical college with a total intake of 150 students was started by the institution from the academic year 2009-10.

Course offered:

GAIMS has been offering M.B.B.S. course from the academic year 2009-10 according to the curriculum prescribed by the Medical Council of India. The duration of the course is five and half years and this period is divided into four phases. The first year is called as pre-clinical phase, second being para-clinical phase, third is clinical phase and the final and fourth phase is known as post-examination phase and internship programme is offered during this phase of the M.B.B.S course.

Infrastructure:

GAIMS is offering full-fledged hostel facilities to the students with many recreational activities and the hostel is located within the campus of the institution. All the rooms in the hostel are well-furnished to meet the basic needs of the students. For effective safety and security of the students’ round-the-clock professional security has been deputed by the college. There are separate hostels for boys and girls with some facilities like library, Television room, visiting room, intercom network, etc…

Departments:

The college is offering medical course through two of its departments being the pre-clinical and para-clinical departments. Subjects like biochemistry, physiology and anatomy are coming under pre- clinical, while community medicine, forensic medicine, microbiology, pharmacology and pathology are coming under para- clinical department.
