Admission to the various courses offered by Kumaraguru College of Technology is carried out on the basis of the marks obtained in qualifying exam. Admission process is purely based on the norms issued by Anna University. The institute considers common entrance tests such as GATE and TANCET for admission for post graduate courses. Apart from this, admission to courses such as MBA/ MCA is based on performance in entrance test conducted by the University.

Eligibility Criterion for Under Graduate courses

Candidates who have completed higher secondary studies with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects can apply for under graduate courses.  They are required to obtain a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate in qualifying examination. OBC category candidates require 45 % marks in aggregate to be eligible. Candidates belonging to SC / ST require a pass in the higher secondary education. Apart from these, candidates who have completed diploma courses can seek admission directly to second year of study, through lateral entry. Such candidates should secure a minimum aggregate of 60 % marks in final semester as well as in previous semesters.

Admission process

Candidates who seek admission to the Undergraduate programmes are required to submit the prescribed application along with supporting documents to the institute before the stipulated time. Admission process will be as per the norms issued by Anna University. Eligible candidates will be selected on first come first serve basis against the availability of vacancies.

Eligibility Criterion for Post Graduate courses

Candidates who have completed graduation in any of the following courses with a minimum of 50 % are eligible for Post Graduation programmes offered by the Institute

  • Bachelor of Technology in Textile Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Bio-Technology/ Chemical Engineering/ Petroleum Refining etc
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile
  • Bachelor of Engineering in civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics
  • Bachelor in Pharmacy
  • Master of Science in Bio-Chemistry/ Micro-Biology/ Bio-Physics/ Bio-Technology

Admission Process

Admission to the courses is based on the score obtained by the candidates in common entrance test called TANCET. Apart from this, GATE qualified candidates will be given preference. Admission to the professional courses such as MBA and MCA is based on the scores obtained by candidates in Entrance exam conducted by Anna University. Candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 50 % aggregate marks are eligible to apply for these courses. The duration of entrance test will be two hours. There will objective type questions from areas such as Quantitative Ability, Analytical reasoning and Computer Awareness.
