sir i am doing my 12th standard this year and i am interested to join merchant navy can you please give the information about it? please.....

I'm also willing to join MN.So Shiva you have to take admission in any naval academy or do marine engineering and after that you will in merchant navy.
But you have to live in ship for many months you you must tough enough to join this.

You can join indian navy after 12thclass if you have physics, maths and chemistry combination.so as do join merchant navy..

you can join as a deck cadet on board a ship and train on the job for three years.

After the on-job training one has to appear for the competency examination, as required by the Union Ministry of Surface Transport, to be eligible to become a Navigation Officer.

The physical requirement:--
Minimum height of 157cms for men and 152 cms for women with correlated weight.
should not be color blind.

10+2 appearing/passout students can join Merchant Navy as a deck cadet by apearing in OPEN-NET entrance examination which is conducted by IGNOU.

Minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for this examination is to be 10+2 passout with minimum 55% marks in PCM.

The first is to join after your 12th standard. For this you must have pursued Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics during your 12th standard. There is a minimum age requirement of 18 years for the same. You will need to appear for the various entrance exams like IGNOU, IIT- JEE etc. On clearing this exam you will need to undergo Pre sea training. On completion of the course you will be eligible to join as a deck cadet. The other option is join after you complete Marine engineering. You can also join after completing Mechanical engineering but you will need to undergo a training period for the same. You have the option to join either Indian companies or Foreign companies. Most of these companies have their offices in Mumbai, Calcutta. in order to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy,you need to have a bachelor's degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering.

Eligibility Criteria and most required qualification for indian navy are==

1= Unmarried male applicants in the Technical Branches (Engineering and Electrical) are the only prospectives for this examination.

2= Age limit: 19 ½ to 25 years (candidate to be born between 02 Jan 1985 to 01 Jul 1990; both dates inclusive).

3= Applicant must hold a BE/B Tech (or equivalent) from Recognised University or AMIE with minimum 55% marks in aggregate.

4= Calculation for aggregate percentage should be based on total marks obtained in all the semesters divided by total number of semesters, in any of the following disciplines:

Engineering Branch
Mechanical
Production
Aeronautical
Marine
Control
Electrical Branch: (i) Electrical, (ii) Electronics, (iii) Telecommunications, (iv) Avionics, (v)Instrumentation & Control.

Applicants in 8th semester can also apply provided they have aggregate of 55% marks till 7th semester.

Physical Standards

Minimum height – 157 cms with correlated weight

The minimum acceptable vision for distant vision should be

6/24
6/24 (correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses)
Should not be colour/night blind.
