Union Public Service Commission was intially founded as the Federal Public Service Commission. Federal Public Service Commission was actually established on October 1, 1926. The commission was established under the Government of India Act 1935. Later on, the formation of the Public Service Commissions at the Provincial level was also made as a provision under the Government of India Act 1935. Federal Public Service Commission was later changed into an autonomous entity named Union Public Service Commission. Thus, Union Public Service Commission actually came into existence on January 26, 1950.

Job Profile:

Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct a limited Competitive Examination, 2012 for making recruitment in the Indian Police Service. The examination will be conducted or held at seven different centres i.e. Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Nagpur, Bangalore, Guwahati and Chennai.

Eligibility:

The very first eligibility conditions need to be followed by the candidate is that he must be a citizen of India.

The minimum age limit set for the being eligible for this examination is 21 years as on the last date for the reciept of application.

The maximum age limit set for the being eligible for this examination is 30 years as on the last date for the reciept of application.

Upper age limit may be relaxed in respect of reserved categories candidates i.e. Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Class etc.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must hold a degree in any discipline from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India etc. All interested candidates should strictly follow this educational qualification criteria i.e. they should possess the prescribed minimum educational qualification set for bring eligible for applying for the Indian Police Service Limited Competitive Examination (2012), Union Public Service Commission.

Pay Scale: Selected candidates will be provided the salary under the prescribed Pay Band as per their position.

Selection Process:

Selection of candidates will be made through the conduct of a Competitive Written Examination that will be held on a specified date at the above specified centres only. Candidates will have to qualify in this written examination for being considered for the Interview test. The final decision on the selection of candidates will be made only on the basis of the result of the interview test.
