National Institute of Siddha was established in the year 2005 under the Government of India. The institute has an urban campus located at Chennai, Tami Nadu. This autonomous institute has approximtaley 17 administrative staff. The institute is considered as one of the premier institute which aims to provide higher studies for the siddha system of medicine. The institute actually came into existence when Government of Tamil Nadu requested Government of India to establish an institute for Siddha. The inauguration of the institute was done by Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh.
