Assam University, Silchar
Assam University, Silchar was established in 1994 under Assam University Act, 1989.It is spread across 600 acres in Dargakona in South Assam which is at the border of Bangladesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
It has as many as 53 colleges under its aegis in the 5 districts which is covered by this university. It is also UGC recognized and has developed its facilities with time providing hostel facilities to both genders, transport etc. Another campus for this university was opened in 2007 in Diphu.
It has a diversified team of 230 plus faculty members from all corners of country to impart the vast span of disciplines. It regularly organizes seminars, symposia, workshops and other academic related activities. It also has a career oriented approach by making facilities to arrange for proper placement opportunities for passed out students in due time.
