Law Colleges in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu is one among the 28 states in India with the city of Chennai as its capital. Like any other faculty of education, legal education is also given importance in the state of Tamil Nadu and this was proven by the state government by establishment of a separate university for legal education. The name of this legal university in the state of Tamil Nadu is The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. The university has offered affiliation to the law colleges located in different part of the state and law degree in the state of Tamil Nadu is conferred by this university.
Education in the field of law in Tamil Nadu:
Most of the law colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu are working under the control of the Government of Tamil Nadu and these colleges were established by the Government of Tamil Nadu with a view to establish a law college in all major cities in the state. Even there are a few law colleges functioning under private ownership in the state of Tamil Nadu. When it comes degrees pertaining to law in Tamil Nadu, the law colleges in the state offer five-year B.A.B.L, three-year B.L at the UG level and M.L degree at the PG level, even some diploma and certificate courses are also offered by law college in the state as short term courses.
Eligibility for admission to UG courses in law colleges in Tamil Nadu:
For admission to five-year BABL course, candidates must have completed their higher secondary, while for three-year B.L. course, they must be degree holders in any discipline.
