University of Kerala, Trivandrum
University of Kerala was set up in 1937, which was even before Kerala was created in India. It is among the first 16 universities that were established in India.
16 faculties and 41 departments of the university are based on teaching and research.
The University has about 150 colleges to it. These are for arts and science, law, engineering, MBA/MCA, teacher training, ayurveda, medical colleges, dental, homeopathy Colleges, Siddha Medical College, Nursing Colleges, Pharmacy Colleges, Fine Arts Colleges, Music College, and National College of Physical Education.
University offers a number of courses including various Under-Graduate Degree Courses generally of 2,3 or 4 years duration like B.Sc., B.A, B.Com. Etc. There are more of Post Graduate Courses such as MA, MSc, MBA, MD etc. In addition, there are various Research / Doctoral-level Courses such as M.Phil and PhD. Kerala University covers vast areas of districts - Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta.
The administration campus is situated at about a distance of 3 km from the KSRTC bus station and Railway Central Station and 7 km from The Thiruvananthapuram International and 18 km from the city is The Kariavattom campus.
The Kerala University has a number of Department Libraries and Campus Library and Study Centre at different locations providing a variety of books, Journals, CDs, Microfiche, Theses, and Dissertations which helps enriching the knowledge of the students. Each college has well equipped fully fledged laboratories.
Admission:
Admission notifications, circulars and announcements are made available on the university’s website.
Admission in under-graduate degree courses is on the basis of 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination accepted by the Council, or on the basis of merit list in the entrance examination of the University.
Admission in post graduate courses is different for different courses including post graduation entrance test, qualifying marks in graduation courses or so.
Admission to research/Doctoral level courses asks for eligibility in the masters’ level.
