Political Science is one of the subjects in National Eligibility Test, conducted by University Grants Commission. There are two papers on political Science. Paper II is objective type test while paper III is a conventional exam. The pattern of paper III is given here.

Paper III of political Science consists of essay type questions. The duration of the exam is two hours and a half. The total marks of the test are 200. The total marks are divided in four sections. Section I consists of five questions. The questions are based on a passage given. The marks carried by these questions are 5 each and the word limit for each answer is 30 words.

Section II consists of 15 questions in all, each of 5 marks. The word limit in this section is also 30 words. The sub total of this section is 75 marks.

Section III carries a total of 60 marks. There are five long answer type questions in this section, each carrying 12 marks. The answers are to be written in 200 words. Section IV has one question of 40 marks. This is an essay type question with a word limit of 1000 words.  There are internal choices in the paper.
