National Eligibility Test is conducted for testing the eligibility of candidates for lectureship in various subjects. The subjects for this test include languages, social sciences, some science subjects and humanities. This test is also for Junior Research Fellowship. History is one of the papers in the test. Two papers are there in this test- paper II and paper III. Here we give the details of paper II of the subject.

The paper II of history is an objective test of duration one hour and fifteen minutes. There are fifty questions in the paper, each carrying two marks. Thus the total of the paper is 100 marks. The questions are multiple choice type questions. These questions have four optional answers, and only one among them is correct. The correct answer is to be marked on the OMR sheet provided. More than one answer is treated as wrong answer. Unlike, other objective tests, there is no negative marking in this exam. So the candidates have to attempt all the questions. The questions are of true/false type, matching type and assertion reason types. Sometimes, questions based on a passage are also given.
