Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visva Vidhyalayam, which is a women university, was established in the year 1983 by the late chief minister of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The university was formed with the objective of training women students as better national developers and to inculcate skills of leadership among women. Initially, the university was started just with 20 staff members, 300 students and 10 faculties. But now, the university has a student strength of 2000 and staff strength of 250. The university is conducting different under-graduation and post-graduation level courses that are applied, professional and job-oriented in nature. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has accredited the university with four-star status. The colleges coming under the university are divided into seven schools. Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visva Vidhyalayam is offering un-comparable service to the education of women in the state keeping pace with the changing channels of employability. The courses offered by the university are designed in such a way as to bring out the potential of the students. The mode of instruction followed by the university is fieldwork, laboratory and classroom training. All the professional courses offered by the university are approved by Pharmacy Council of India, Bar Council of India, AICTE and NCTE. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 138.43 acres and it is located at a distance of 3 km from the bus stand and railway station of the holy city of Tirupathi.
